Update

I have not had much to write about. Things have been going well for both Michael and I, so I am just checking in. Last week at work was a total bear...I wanted to rip the next parent's head off who said "I am his/her parent, but I am his/her friend first...so I believe him/her, what proof do you have?"(and believe me, they don't care what proof I have). Seriously!! What happened to the parents who the kids would rather be thrown in jail than the parents called because there would be some responsiblity at home for their actions...thanks Mom & Dad!...you are the real good parents the world needs more of! I see that so often in the high school, parents who are trying to be friends more than parents.

Anyhow, last week was frustrating. To top it off, as I was driving home from Phoenix in my patrol car Friday, since I was there for work related training, I was almost hit by a stray tire. A woman pulling an old 5th wheel litterally lost the entire tire and rim while I was a few feet behind her in the lane next to her, the tire and debris from the dragging 5th wheel flew all over the place. That week at driving training in the police academy paid off and there was no damage to my patrol car. I of course had to stop to assist, and she insisted someone slashed her tire...it took me while to make her realize the entire tire/rim was gone... it wasn't flat...it bounced very high right by me as it flew off her 5th wheel and down the interstate. She was a little loopy too...it has been a week full of colorful fruit loops!!

Happy Birthday Rylee

Saturday we went to Flagstaff, in the snow...sometimes I miss watching the snow fall...but not shoveling it! It was Rylee's birthday and she was adorable as usual. I asked her to make a funny face and she moved her hands all over her face and kept moving her mouth and eyes...so I got a cute picture...but she doesn't hold a funny face...she makes funny faces in motion. Micah and Weston made their best funny face for me too. It was a good time and great cake. Thanks for the flowers Heather!

A Quick Sedona Tour

Due to Michael's back and my miscarriage, Carrie's week with us wasn't quite what we were hoping for. On her last day here, Michael and I were feeling better and gave her the quick tour of Sedona. Of course it was raining and cold...but it was still fun. We took her to Seven Canyons, where Michael works. We came up on a heard of Javelina. Carrie was a little nervous to approach them since she had never seen any before, but we got within about 15 feet before they sprinted off...as Javelina's leap more than sprint I guess. Then Michael's friend Daryl graciously took us on a short Tom Car ride. Tom Car's are like dune buggies on steroids. Since it was rainy and muddy...it made for an even more fun ride. Thanks Daryl! Hope you had fun Carrie...we enjoyed having you here this week!

Christmas in Kansas

Michael and I went to Kansas for Christmas. It snowed on Christmas day!! It was great to see and spend time with everyone. We all played lots of games and stayed in the warm house most of the time. Although, I am not sure Marilyn, Michael's mom, will let me cook in her kitchen anymore. I love to cook, but if you know me well enough, I certainly make my fair share of messes in the Kitchen. Her kitchen is carpet and has a smooth top stove, which is difficult to clean, not a "Rena friendly" kitchen.

We did venture out and go sledding. I know I crack jokes about how flat Kansas is....that said, when it comes to sledding....one needs a little assistance since there isn't exactly down hill snow play areas. So, Bill, Carrie, Koebe, Easton, Michael, and I went to Grandpa Gus' farm, tied a sled to the truck, and off we went. I did this growing up on the roads at the "ranch", on sleds and the hood of a car. That was lots of fun, my mom loves to tell a story about when I got upset over the whole thing. Anyhow, it was fun to do that again. The snow was about 6 inches deep.

Highs & Lows

A quick note to let the few of you who knew I was pregnant, that I have miscarried. I could hardly keep my excitement contained when I discovered I was pregnant. Other than telling family, I was waiting until my doctors appointment today to make it official. Unfortunately, I didn't make it to the appointment without a prior trip to the ER. I take another blood test tomorrow...but it is evident that I am in the process of miscarrying. Michael and I are moving forward and trying not to let this discourage us, looking for the "blessing in disguise".
