One Trimester Down, Two to Go!

The first trimester wasn't so bad, I know it could have been worse. Mostly I was EXTREMELY exhausted. Fortunately, I have an awesome husband who helped pick up my share of chores. I have been mildly to moderately nauseous the majority of the time...but no vomiting...yet! Michael is so understanding, he has made me breakfast or dinner a couple of times that I simply could not eat...the thought wanted to make me hurl. Not that Michael doesn't make great food...apparently baby just didn't think it smelled or looked good.

The last several days Michael has been saying he has been feeling nauseous...all I could say is "welcome to my world". I was reading an article in a pregnancy magazine today that actually said it is not uncommon for husbands who are engrossed in their partner's pregnancy to experience similar symptoms, such as nausea. Interesting!

With my short frame, my tummy is already pushing out there...and no, I haven't been eating for two... and yes, there is only one in there.

At seven weeks we got to see the heartbeat. I guess Michael and I don't get overly excited about things, we both thought it was awesome, but just said "neat". It looked like a little amoeba, with a heart like in the Grinch, almost beating out of its skin. Michael has been to every appointment with me so far...he is so supportive and loving!

Here is to a healthy second trimester!

Michael's New Endeavor

Michael has been hired at Red Rock Jeep Tours and will start in a week and a half. Seven Canyons has been a good job, but their financial situation leaves us concerned that some day soon they won't be able to pay everyone on payroll. He will be making a little more money and the people he has met so far in the company seem like good people to work with/for.

He got a call from a friend of ours, "Rock", about the job. Apparently Rock gave Michael such a good recommendation that the RRJT general manager practically had decided to hire him before she met him. Michael said it was like she wasn't going to take no for an answer (not that he wanted to say no or anything). Thanks Rock!!

He will primarily be a Jeep mechanic, but they will also train him as a guide so he can do that sometimes as well. Whe he guides, he gets to dress up in his vintage western gear. He will even get to teach roping to tourists every once in a while as part of a Disney Out West package (Disney is a sponsor for RRJT).

We are excited for this change and hope it turns out to be as good as it sounds.

Going Private

I have started getting comments from unknown people. I have decided to set my blog to private. If you would like to continue reading our blog, if you have my e-mail address, please e-mail me, if not, please respond to this post with a comment that has your e-mail address. I am going to try to wait about a week or so before I set it to private, unless I get more bogus comments (in which case it will be sooner)

Spring is Here!

Here are a couple pics from the flowers that are coming up first in my landscaping. What beautiful weather we are having! (the pics of the iris & poppies aren't really from my house- but I have those flowers blooming- ...since my camera is broken, I didn't get a chance to get pics of those...but the other flowers & robins are from here) :)

Digital Camera Bummer

I let Michael take my digital camera with him on his ride so he could get some photos. On the second to last day, the camera stopped working. Determined to fix it, he carefully took it apart and cleaned it...it took several hours. Disappointed, it still does not work quite right. I was so excited to get a digital camera last August for my birthday so I could take pics for my blog, and also have a more portable camera. So, for a little while (except for pics I already have), there won't be any new photos on the blog. Hopefully it won't be long!

Michael's Horseback Adventure Photos

Here are a few pictures from Michael's trip. The scenery changed quite a bit from pines to saquaros, with wildflowers in bloom. The one picture with Dad sitting on a rock is him ringing out his socks after T-Bone took him for a dip. The rest of the pictures are fairly self explanitory. Hopefully we will be getting a disk of photos soon from the Trail Boss, which will hopefully have a few good ones on it that we don't have.

Michael's Adventure: The Return

Dad and Michael arrived in New River today, tired, dirty, but having fun! I have never seen T-Bone & Nugget look so incredibly tired. Everyone is home, showered and relaxing.

This is Dad's second ride, and of course, Michael's first. Michael got initiated at the end of the ride (I am hoping I get some pictures from the Mountain Men soon, I didn't get to see it). A few guys grabbed Michael (they did this secretly to one at a time of the newbies). They held him up while someone poured beer down his backside, then Dad took the pleasure of "chapping" him. "Chapping" is taking the chaps (leather leg covers) and slapping Michael's now wet backside with the chaps. Michael took it well and laughed at it as part of the whole experience. Michael made new friends and really enjoyed his week of cowboying.

Pictures to come soon.

Michael's Adventure Days: 4, 5 & 6

On day 4 they rode about 15 miles and on day 5 they rode about 23 miles. Dad has caught a cold, probably something to do with those wet feet the first day. They are enjoying themselves, but ready for home and a shower!

Today they rode about 18 miles. Dad and T-Bone managed to find some quicksand. Fortunately it only went to T's belly and when Dad got off of him, he was able to work his way out. When they hit it, apparently they went in so quickly that Dad came forward and knocked his forehead on the horn of his saddle...ouch!

Mom and I pick them up tomorrow. Two dirty horses and two dirty men, ready for home.
